Thanksgiving Stuffing

There is no stuffing that compares to the Pepperidge Farm classic herbed stuffing in the blue bag. I have often driven to three or more store to hunt it down for Thanksgiving, because nothing else will do.

Two bags will fill the bird plus a small casserole. For a big crowd, you might need three.

Thanksgiving Stuffing

Ingredients

  • 2 bags Pepperidge Farm Classic Herbed Stuffing Blue bag, NOT the red bag cubed version
  • 2 pounds mild Italian sausage loose, no casings
  • 10 tablespoons butter
  • 2 large onions, diced
  • 4 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  • In a large stock pot, melt the butter and sauté the onions until soft.
  • Remove the sausage meat from the casings and add to the onions. Brown the sausage meat, breaking it up into small pieces as you go.
  • Add the broth and bring to a boil.
  • Remove from heat. Add stuffing slowly, mixing well until all combined. Cover and let stand five minutes.
  • Stir stuffing again to ensure it is evenly moist. Stuff the turkey loosely, or transfer to a baking dish with a lid and bake for 30 minutes.
